An Original Painted Muslin Poetry Pillow Art Doll with Turtle holding Dandelion Flower by Jeanne Fry

"Believe" is an Original Painted Poetry Pillow Art Doll by Jeanne Fry, that brings the Art of Wishing forward with a Turtle holding a Dandelion Flower. This piece was created first by painting on muslin with acrylics and a textile medium in a contemporary folk art style. A woman's face was painted, accented with auburn colored hair and her eyes closed while she is "wishing'. On top of her head an image of a Turtle is stamped ho is holding a Dandelion flower that has gone to see...just waiting to be blown out and wished upon. The muslin was then hand stitched creating a decorative pillow in a torso shape, and filled with a polyester stuffing. Black ink paint was used to write a piece of prose around the painting on the front surface of the pillow that reads:

"Always believe in your matter how big or small. If you just Believe...truly Believe...they're just a dream away".

I started thinking about how we are taught at an early age to Wish...blow out the candles and "wish"...blow on the dandelion and "wish"..rub the genie lamp and "wish", and above all "don't tell anyone your wish". While I like the concept of teaching a child to "dream" and "wish" and that anything is possible, I began to think about the act in itself and how it contradicts what we are taught as adults.

As adults we are taught that we need to be more proactive in our dreams and desires, that we need to "speak" them to the Universe, immerse in the Laws of Attraction, visualize, use affirmations and positive self talk, and create vision boards.

As usual, I thought, leave it to us to make things even more complicated than they need to be as we get older. Because in the end, doesn't it really amount to Believing? Simply, Believing.

The artwork is signed on the front in the lower right corner.

The Pillow Art Doll measures 13 1/2 inches in height, 9 1/2 inches in width, and 3 1/2 inches in depth. It is an Original One of a Kind piece of decorative and symbolic art.

It is created for adult collectors (not for children).
