The Muse of Dance OOAK Beaded Full Figure Folk Art Doll named Terpsichore of the Nine Muses

The Muse of Dance, Terpsichore, is an OOAK Beaded Folk Art Doll which is the 1st in my series of the Nine Muses. Each of these Folk Art Dolls are Original One of a Kind pieces and Full Figured to reflect the time period when the woman's body was celebrated especially when full figured and voluptuous. These Muses depict the Empowered Feminine, where they love themselves, their bodies, and their talents.

Terpsichore was known as the Muse of Dance, and often you would find her depicted sitting down with a lyre providing musical accompaniment to the ballerinas. But here I wanted to depict her in the full embodiment of her inspiration - DANCING as the Muse of Dance.

She was sewn in a free form full figure body shape from a beautiful rich magenta and burnt orange batik fabric, then filled with a polyester stuffing. Her widened hips and sacred womb are embellished with a beaded spiral of Rhodochrosite gemstone beads. Two blue glass shell beads are symbolic for her breasts. Her arms are upward stretched over her bead and hold a gorgeous smokey glass faceted bead  that is symbolic for "Her Sun and Her Moon".

Her face is a small oval Original Painting on fabric canvas, then sewn on to the head of her body. Her face is framed, beaded with Rhodochrosite beads and adorned with a multi colored head wrap. She wears a mini dancing skirt made from lavender tulle that is embellished with a purple safari waist trim and multi colored edging that matches her head wrap and long scarf. She has two small hot pink fiber bows on the tops of her dancing feet.

The Muse of Dance measures 13 inches in height and 4.5 inches in width. She is designed to be an Art Doll Wall Hanger, with a fabric loop on the back of her head for displaying. A signed printed story card accompanies her that serves as her Certificate of Authenticity.

Ist in "The Nine Muses" series. Terpsichore is a part of my Wisdom Keeper Art Doll collection, created for adult collectors and Not as children's toys or decor because of their small components.
